How to Style an Iraca Bag for Any Occasion

A woven bag has a rare advantage: it’s neutral and eye-catching at the same time. Natural fiber goes with everything, but the texture means it never goes unnoticed. That makes it easy to wear and hard to get wrong.

Still, not every Iraca bag works for every occasion. Here’s the guide, by occasion.

The rule that solves 80% of the doubts

If the outfit has texture, the bag goes plain. If the outfit is plain, the bag leads.

An openwork weave next to a lace dress competes: two textures fighting for the same attention. That same bag next to a plain single-color dress becomes the focal point of the whole look.

That’s the only rule worth memorizing. Everything else is nuance.

Wedding, evening event, celebration

This is where the structured clutch works: small piece, defined shape, short handle or none.

Aurora is the clear example — structured, with openwork spirals and a central sun, made precisely for events and weddings. Espiral plays in the same league with a more geometric, contemporary feel.

For beach weddings and seaside celebrations, Concha — shaped like a seashell, with a pearl handle — is the piece that starts the most conversations.

How to wear it: plain dress, minimal jewelry. If the bag has color, let it be the only strong accent. If it’s natural, you can afford earrings with presence.

Beach, travel, weekend

Here capacity rules. A roomy tote or a comfortable crossbody.

Roma is a spacious tote in a dense natural weave, made for beach, travel and shopping. Doré plays similarly but with openwork geometric motifs and rigid handles, more vibrant for daytime. And if you’d rather keep your hands free, Palmar is a crossbody with a braided strap in a natural tone and a bohemian feel.

How to wear it: linen, cotton, anything loose. This is the occasion where the bag can be large without looking heavy, because the rest of the outfit is light too.

Day out, festival, afternoon plans

Small pieces with a strong shape. Yoyo — circular, with a cord strap and tassel — and Yoyo Borla — tasseled around the base — work best when the plan is to walk and not carry much.

How to wear it: these bags have personality of their own. Let them talk and keep the rest simple.

City and office

The safest option is a tote in natural, brown or a mid tone, with a defined shape. It adds texture to a formal outfit without breaking the code.

How to wear it: if your work wardrobe runs to neutrals — black, grey, navy — a natural-toned bag is the warm contrast that softens the whole thing. It’s probably the most underrated use of a woven piece.

Choosing the color: two routes

The neutral route. Natural, brown, reddish coffee. Goes with absolutely everything, and it’s the first piece we recommend if it’ll be your only woven bag. It never looks out of place.

The accent route. Cherry red, turquoise, magenta, yellow. The bag becomes the focal point and the rest of the outfit stays plain. It goes further than you’d think: one colored object transforms an entire neutral look.

You can see the full palette with real fiber swatches. And if you’re wondering why tones vary within one piece, it’s explained in how Iraca is dyed.

Three things not to do

Don’t overload it. The weave has structure, not stretch. A tote filled to the brim strains the handle finishes — which is exactly where a piece fails.

Don’t leave it in the sun all day. Moderate exposure is fine. Weeks in a window is not: it’s the only thing that genuinely fades the color.

Don’t store it in a sealed plastic bag. The fiber needs to breathe. A cool, ventilated spot, and if it’s for a season, wrapped in tissue paper. Full detail in the care guide.

If you’re starting with just one

A tote in natural. It works for the beach, the city and the office, doesn’t fight with anything, and it’s the one you’ll carry most days of the year. Color comes later, once you know how you like wearing it.
